MPD: Woman robbed and kidnapped then released

A woman in West Mobile was robbed Wednesday afternoon at gunpoint, kidnapped, and then released unharmed. Her captors are still on the loose.

Mobile Police said a woman was getting in her car at the Dickens Ferry apartment complex off Old Shell Road when a man got in the car with her.

“Once inside the vehicle the black subject produced a handgun and made her drive to a second location,” said Officer Terence Perkins with the Mobile Police Department. Perkins said the second location was the Mobile Terrance area.

“Once at the second location, a second black male entered the picture and they both robbed her of her property,” said Perkins.

Perkins said the robbers stole the victim’s cash and cell phone while at gunpoint. After she was robbed, the two men released her, unharmed. That’s when, police say, the woman drove to the 800 block of South University Boulevard where police responded to her emergency call.

Officer Perkins said any help from the public will help investigators in making an arrest in this case.

“We have no leads at this time but were asking anybody that was in the area that may have seen anything to give us a call no matter how small or minute they think it is that could be the information we need to crack this case,” said Perkins.
