Video: Runners stop to shake WWII vet’s hand

SAN JOSE, Calif. (CNN) – World War II veteran Joe Bell stood in his front yard Sunday, March 2 to cheer on runners in San Jose, California.

Dressed in uniform, the 95-year-old clapped – and they clapped back.

Eventually, the racers ran onto the sidewalk to shake his hand and thank him for his service.

Bell is well-known in the community and the video of the touching moment has gone viral.
