Get ready for fishing season!

Spring officially begins March 20th! When we think spring we think warmer weather, and although it may not feel like warmer weather is on the way, FOX 10 meteorologists say it is. Richard Rutland, Boat Captain and Professional Fisherman, tells Cherish Lombard when the temperatures heat up, it’s the perfect time to go fishing!

Captain Richard suggests stopping by Lap’s before you start your fishing trip. He says Lap’s has the largest boat launch facility on the causeway, they have their own wharf for easy boat access, and a bait shop that’s 7 days a week at 5:00 a.m.  so you can ice, ice chest, snacks, drinks and any other items you might need.

If you don’t have your own boat, you can take a fishing trip with Captain Richard. A standard inshore fishing trip is $500 for 1-3 people and $50 for each additional angler up to 6 people. Standard trips include ice, live bait, tackle, fuel, fishing license and fun! They also clean and bag all fish at the end of the trip for you to take home. Typically, they fish for Speckled Trout and Redfish, but on occasion, they fish for Flounder,Triple Tail, and Spanish Mackerel. The boat usually leaves out of Dauphin Island Marina or from the Causeway in Mobile. You can also be picked up from Fort Morgan or The Grand Hotel in Point Clear if you are in Baldwin County.
