Rematch in Final 48: No. 3 Blount vs. No. 1 Mountain Brook

It’s a recipe for revenge here in the Final 48 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Complex The 6A Boys Championship game tips off Friday, February 28 at 7 p.m., third-ranked Blount and top-ranked Mountain Brook. These same two teams met last year in the state semi-final game, the Spartans won by just three and went on to win a state title. The Leopards are ready for a different outcome.

This is something that happened in 2013, we lost to Mountain Brook and felt like we should have won the game but we lost and we started talking about and we spoke into existence that we wanted to play them again, this year for a state championship. So God has granted us that opportunity and so we’re going to move forward and prepare as if this is our time to walk away with the crown,” said head coach Jeffery Pope.

Well the stage is set, can the leopards change the script, on and even bigger stage against Mountain Brook – and win their first state crown since 2001?

“It would really give another thing the kids can look forward to, especially the school could really look at and say, ‘That’s ours, we own that,’” said Pope.

FOX10 Sports Anchor Simone Eli will be in Birmingham for the 6A Championship game. She will have highlights and more at 9 p.m. FOX10 will carry the game live on our sister station, the CW55 at 7 p.m.
