Blount boys in Championship; 5A locals lose in semis

Last season the Blount boys basketball team lost to Mountain Brook in the Boys 6A State Semi-final game – Mountain Brook went on to the win a State Championship. This year, the two teams will meet again, but this time, in the Championship game on Friday.

The third-ranked Leopards are 27 and 3 on the season, compared to top-ranked Mountain Brook, 3 and 3 on the year.

The 6A Boys Championship Game will tip off Friday at 7PM in Birmingham and will air live on the CW55.

Thursday in 5A action, the top-ranked Faith Academy boys fell to sixth-ranked Parker, 47-30. This is the third consecutive year that the Rams have lost in the state semi-final game. Shawntell Benard led Faith with 10 points.

For 5A girls, seventh-ranked B.C. Rain was routed by top-ranked Wenonah, 90-43. Rain finished the season 27 and 6. Jamya Williams led the Red Raiders with 18 points.
