Murphy High School officially promoted former Panther’s offensive coordinator, Rick Cauley, to head coach of the football team on Tuesday.
Last month, Cauley took over as the interim after Ronn Lee, long-time head coach at Murphy, stepped down after 10 years of service to the Murphy football program.
Cauley has been with Murphy for 15 years, 14 of those years on the football coaching staff. For the past 7 years, Cauley served as the offensive coordinator for the panthers. Cauley also teaches History at Murphy.
Cauley said being named head coach at Murphy is a dream come true.
“It’s a dream come true for it to happen at Murphy. Murphy has been one of the biggest schools in the state – we were the second biggest for a long time and there have been great coaches to come through here. I’ve been fortunate to work for some really good people and yeah – I’m sitting in a lot better seat that most,” said Cauley.
