MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -
A Mobile family has a lot of questions about a deadly shooting that happened this weekend.
Police said they responded to a burglary call.
A 26 year old mobile man is dead. Was he a burglar, or did he get caught up in a tragic love- triangle? His family is still looking for answers.
Jameka Gallery said the family has made funeral arrangements for her brother, but they still don’t know the details about what led to his death early Saturday. Gallery said they spent the morning Monday talking to police.
“They didn’t have anything to say about for real, except for the stuff we already been hearing about it. Other than that there was no other details about it,” Gallery said.
26 year old Anthony Carstarphen died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police said he was shot after he broke in through the window of an apartment in the R.V. Taylor Housing community.
Gallery said her brother’s girlfriend lives in the apartment. She said they were together just two days earlier.
“He had actually took her out and my mother for valentines day on a date. The two of them, and then turn around a couple of days later and this happen,” she said.
“Him breaking in that couldn’t be true, because he had a key sometimes he would often lose his key and that would be his way to get in the house. But other than that they was in a relationship, it wasn’t like they weren’t together,” Gallery said.
After Carstarphen was shot inside the house the family said they were told he made his way outside, and when police arrived he was lying on the ground.
“I saw her kneeling over the man and I asked her what’s wrong with him, and she never did tell me what was wrong with him she just say help me, help me, help. Just kept saying that over and over again,” a neighbor said.
Police said the woman who lives in the house, and another man were questioned about the shooting, and no charges were filed.
Police said the case will be turned over to a grand jury to determine if charged will be filed.
Anthony Carstarphen will be buried Saturday. His funeral is set for 1 o’clock at Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Mobile.
