Attendance at the various Mardi Gras parades continues to grow as we enter the second week of Carnival Season 2014 along the Gulf Coast.
Mobile Police report a crowd of 75,264 in downtown Mobile Saturday night as the Maids of Mirth, the Butterfly Maidens and the Krewe of Marry Mates entertained the people.
The Knights of Ecor Rouge drew thousands to downtown Fairhope to enjoy the colorful floats and costumes of the maskers.
In Mobile, police say they responded to 16 complaints during the downtown parades Saturday night. Ten people, including four juveniles, were arrested on charges such as disorderly conduct or under-age drinking.
Seven people were fined for crossing over the barricades. The police tickets are well over $200 dollars. Fourteen illegal parking citations were also given out. If party-goers have to retrieve their vehicle at the impound lot, they should be ready to pay a $125 fine.
