Order of Inca parade draws more than 78,000 people


Friday night’s Order of Inca parade delighted thousands of people in downtown Mobile.  Mobile Police estimate 78,355 people were at last night’s parade.

Mobile Police responded to eight complaints, ranging from two misdemeanors and no felony arrests.  Police say seven people were ticketed for crossing a barricade and 4 vehicles were towed for parking in non-designated parking areas.

The carnival fun continues Saturday with several parades.

The Hickory Ridge subdivision held a children’s Mardi Gras parade this morning and the Society Dell’ Arte staged their celebration at 11 a.m. at the Mobile Museum of Art.

This afternoon, beginning at 2:00 p.m. downtown Mobile will be the scene of several parades.

At 2:00pm, the Mobile Mystics take to the streets, to be followed by the Mobile Mystical Revelers.

At 6:30 p.m. the Krewe of Marry Mates parade begins in downtown Mobile.  They will be followed by the Maids of Mirth and the Order of Butterfly Maidens.

In  downtown Fairhope, the Knights of Ecor Rouge will parade beginning at 6:45 p.m..
