Mobile Police are still investigating the homicide of 22-year-old Eric Davis of Mobile.
Police say Davis was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Sage Avenue and Old Shell Road when he was shot multiple times.
Davis was pronounced dead on scene.
Friends and family of Davis say Davis was a well-known rapper in the city of Mobile.
Davis’s friends say they still don’t know why he was targeted, as he was a good man, with big dreams.
After speaking with multiple people who knew Davis, the same word came up to describe him: humble.
“I’m not just saying this, but he was real humble. He was the nicest guy, he smiled when you saw him, gave you credit, had no problems with nobody,” said Josh Daigrepont, one of Davis’s friends.
Friends of Davis say they still don’t understand what could have gone wrong.
They say he wasn’t a violent guy, he was just dedicated to his music.
“I feel like somebody took a blessing away, he was really, really gifted. He was following his dreams, and he was on his way. I’m just hurt they took it away from him,” said his friend Kali.
In fact, on March 8 at the Soul Kitchen, his friends are putting together a benefit concert to help Davis’s family as they deal with the tragedy.
“Everything we earn from this benefit concert, we are giving 100 percent of the proceeds to his family. It’s going to be small, but it’s something that we care for him and we love him too.”
Friends of Davis say he performed at a nightclub called Club Latitude on the night of his death.
Police have not confirmed whether or not the shooting stemmed from any incident at that club, but FOX10 will be sure to bring you more updates as they come.
