Suspect admits being armed with gun

Mobile Police have arrested and charged a man who was shot by police Wednesday, February 19, in the area of Live Oak and Persimmon Street.

Shawn Taylor, 23, is charged with no pistol permit, attempting to elude, resisting arrest, menacing, and persons forbidden.

FOX10 spoke with Taylor on his way to Mobile Metro Jail. He admits he was armed with a handgun as officers attempted to detain him.

Officers said it all began when they attempted to detain two drug suspects, including Jones, when a struggle ensued and a weapon was produced.

The officer fired multiple times, striking Taylor once in the buttocks. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

The second suspect was taken into custody interviewed and released.

Taylor told FOX10 News he was wanted on warrants and ran to try and see his ‘little boy.’
