The Haven’s 11th Annual “Mystic Mutts of Revelry” parade is this Sunday, February 23rd in Fairhope! Organizers tell Cherish Lombard this year’s theme is “Going for the Gold, Fairhope 2014 Paw-lympics!”
The 2014 MMOR Parade will start at the corner of St. James and S. Summit St, behind the K-1 Center, at 2:30 p.m. If you would like to register your dog to be in the parade, you can do that between 12:00 and 2:00pm at the hospitality tent. If you would rather just watch the parade, you can also make a donation to The Haven animal rescue at the tent, or buy Mardi Gras merchandise at the tent, which will also benefit The Haven.
All dogs who are well-behaved, leashed and up to date on vaccinations are welcome to be in the parade. Parade registration is $25 for one dog and two escorts, one who must be at least 18 years old. Every registered dog can have more household members over the age of six with them for an additional $5 per escort and $5 per dog.
Parade line-up will begin at 2:15pm at St. James and Summit Streets. The parade will start at 2:30, head south on Summit St, east on Morphy Ave, north on Section St, west on Fairhope Ave, and south on Summit St back to the start. The parade route is about 1 mile. No motorized vehicles, alcohol or weapons are allowed.

The Haven rescues, re-habilitates, and re-homes over 900 animals each year serving Baldwin County since 2000. The non-profit animal shelter is responsible for leading the four municipal animal control shelters into creating a no-kill society for companion pets, caring for over 70 homeless cats and dogs at the shelter on any given day, and finding loving homes for these homeless, injured, neglected and abused and abandoned animals. All animals are vaccinated, evaluated both behaviorally and medically, fed, watered and marketed until they find their forever home.
