A Mobile man with a history of driving under the influence is back behind bars after Prichard Police say he hit one of their patrol cars and walked into jail with drugs.
James Ingram, 52, is facing a number of charges including driving while revoked, DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and promoting prison contraband.
Prichard Police Chief Jerry Speziale tells FOX10 News Ingram hit a patrol car on Monday, February 17 while driving in the area of St. Stephens Road and Bearfork.
Officers said Ingram continued driving away after the accident but pulled over once police caught up to stop him.
Officers said they smelled alcohol on Ingram and recorded three different levels on the breathalyzer, the lowest of which was .30.
Once at the jail for booking, police said they found a bag of green leafy substance in Ingram’s pocket.
A strip search uncovered a second bag filled with a green leafy substance.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Ingram remained in the Mobile Metro Jail.
