TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say they’ve found two people dead in wreckage of a small plane in northern Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release that investigators searching wooded terrain found the small plane and two occupants dead.

Federal aviation officials say the plane lost contact with air traffic controllers during its approach to Birmingham’s airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the Cessna 210 went missing after 10 p.m. Friday about 13 miles northeast of Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
