The Ocean Springs Police Department said one teenager is dead and the other severely injured after they got into a high speed chase with police in a stolen vehicle.

Detective Captain William Jackson of the Ocean Springs Police Department said in a press release to FOX10News, the two juvenile males were both ejected when the car they were in crashed on Old Spanish Trial in Gautier.

“One of the males was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Jackson in the press release.  “And the second juvenile was transported to Ocean Springs Hospital and is in critical condition with injuries to his spine, neck and lacerations to the body.”

Investigators say the chase began shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday morning after the Ocean Springs Police Department got into a chase with a 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  The car, said investigators, has been stolen in Biloxi earlier this month.

Police said the pursuit began at Hanley Road at Government Street.

Police said the investigation continues with possible charges pending against the surviving juvenile.
