Mardi Gras officially kicked off in the Port City Friday night. The Conde Cavaliers rolled down the streets of downtown Mobile at 6:30.
The parade boasted 19 floats ranging in themes from Elvis to King Neptune to Queen Elizabeth II. Hundreds of parade goers lined the streets, their hands shooting up to catch an assortment of goodies including shirts, glow necklaces, t-shirts, moon pies, and, of course, lots of beads.
The Cavaliers have been rolling in Mobile since their founding back in 1977. They had around 500 people participating in this year’s parade.
