You have less than a day to get that special gift for your significant other or even for yourself.
For many of us, Valentine’s Day is associated with candy, chocolate and flowers. According to the National Retail Foundation, more than half of the gift givers this year will buy candy, and another one-third will buy flowers.
LA Flower Market on Old Shell Road hopes to reach those gift givers buying flowers.
“We are a brand new florist. We are wholesale to the trade and to the public,” said shop owner Tess Scott.
LA Flower Market is the only wholesale flower market in the Mobile area, with a variety of options for the buyer.
“Basically when you go to a food market, you don’t ask them to cook your dinner. You go home and cook your own dinner. So you come in here. You pick up the flowers. You grab what you want, and you go home and play.”
The flower shop can meet all your needs, not just those for Valentine’s Day. They are stocked with flowers imported from Holland, as well as roses in a variety of colors.
“We are trying to market to the do-it yourself enthusiast. So the bride that wants to come and purchases the flowers and go home and play, or the woman that is doing a dinner party, or the husband that wants to take roses to his wife and put them in a beautiful vase he owns at home,” said Scott.
LA Flowers will be open late on Valentine’s Day to accommodate those late shoppers.
