Gulf Shores is gearing up for the Spring Break season. For residents, that means it’s time to make sure you’ve got your beach access parking pass.
From March 1 to September 30, it will be $5.00 to park at the parking lots on W 2nd Street, W 6th Street, and the main public beach access adjacent to the Hangout.
If you are a resident of Gulf Shores, you should be getting a parking pass in the mail so those parking fees won’t apply. However, if you don’t receive a pass in the mail, you can head to Gulf Shores City Hall with proof of your city residence, and get a parking pass there.
Scott Smothers, Beach Safety Supervisor for the City of Gulf Shores, said he is in the process of hiring more spring/summer lifeguards, and are in the process of training them so they’ll be ready in a couple of weeks.
“We do have a full time and part time lifeguard that’s year round, and then our seasonal lifeguards will report back on the 10th, so there will be lifeguards protecting beaches at the time paid parking starts,” said Smothers.
Smothers said there is also plenty of free parking near the Gulf Shores beaches. For a full list of where visitors can park for free, click here, and search “free parking”: http://www.gulfshores.com/things-to-do/beach-water/beaches.aspx
