Perdido Dollar General robbery suspects on the loose

Lawmen are searching for two suspects in the armed robbery of a Dollar General store in Perdido, Alabama around 9:30 p. m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.

Investigators say surveillance footage released by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office caught the crime in progress. They’re hoping you can pinpoint anything to help identify the suspects.

Authorities say the two suspects approached and entered the store armed with a large pistol and a pipe, or stick. That’s when they demanded money and cigarettes.

After getting around $1000 in cash and 11 packs of cigarettes, the men forced employees into the bathroom and ran out the door.

Norman Allen says the store, which is across the road from the Elementary and Middle Schools, sees a lot of foot traffic.

“From time to time, my wife goes up there late at night. So something could happen at that moment. Plus, I have two small boys and the school is right there. It’s disturbing,” said Allen.

Lowery says they’re investigating to find out what the suspects were doing before and after the crime. However, they don’t know if they left on foot or in a vehicle.

He says they plan to check surveillance footage from other stores around the area.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office at 251-937-0202.
