The Mobile Museum of Art works with various community organizations and individuals to develop programming that will advance cultural exchange, and empower people to preserve, extend, and artistically represent their own cultures.
To accomplish this goal, the museum has lectures, films, performances, demonstrations, and other activities for all ages. There is a weekly program series, ART 4850, held every Thursday night. It provides MMofA visitors the opportunity to experience these various activities and explore the galleries in an evening setting. MMofA programs are part of our effort to encourage the artist inside everyone to express his or her own creativity through different mediums, and promote involvement in the many community arts programs and organizations.
The mission of the Mobile Museum of Art is to provide a place where people enrich their lives through interaction with the visual arts in thought-provoking and creative ways that nourish and delight the mind and spirit. For the fundamental purpose of education, the Museum collects, conserves, exhibits, interprets and researches art.
The museum stays open until 9 p.m. on Thursdays and admission is free. Regular hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday – Sunday.
