The 2014 winter storm didn’t have any mercy on Bienville Square Wednesday, January 29.
Everything in the square was frozen from the grass to the concrete and even the fountain.
Jordan Young was in town from New York for the Gulf of Mexico science conference and he was taking advantage of the cold crisp weather.
“Enjoying the Mobile ice frenzy. When nobody is out here playing in the ice we’re the only ones skidding around,” he said.
Young and his friends were in search of food in the deserted city since they’ve been cooped up inside. His friend Laura Spencer said she’s thankful she brought a coat and scarf from Texas.
“We’re at Texas A&M coming to this conference so we’re not very used to this in Texas. Its been quite a change and not easy to drive in. We’ve been in a hotel trying to stay warm,” she said.
Staying warm was on most people’s minds in downtown Mobile. If they weren’t checking out the sights and sounds of the winter wonderland, most said they were at home relaxing enjoying some movies.
