Locals brave weather despite conditions

Even though schools were closed Tuesday, some people were out in the winter precipitation for different reasons.

The streets around Mobile at morning rush hour weren’t as busy as they normally are.

But, still some people had places they had to go.

We found two people waiting for a WAVE transit bus On Dauphin Street about 8:00 this morning.

When asked where she was going, Verdia Frierson of Mobile said, “I’m going to work. I work in nursing.”

Right next to her at the bus stop was Larry Rankin.

When asked if he was going to work, Rankin said, “No. I’m just walking my girlfriend here.”

But, they learned buses weren’t running Tuesday.

You might think motorists wouldn’t get their oil changed on a freezing day, but you’re wrong.

The workers at American LubeFast were already busy Tuesday morning.

Jarrod Johnson said, “We did like four cars today. Its so cold out here, I don’t know how they’re going to come through here and get their oil changed.”

James Driver said, “I’m from the west coast, California. No, Mobile’s weather just changes and changes. You never know what you’re going to get on a day to day basis.”

And a lot of people will be glad to see this weather change soon.
