Here’s a list of closings and cancellations from across the Gulf Coast, in relation to the winter weather.

MOBILE COUNTY

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson has decided to CLOSE City Government for Wednesday, January 29 with the exception of emergency personnel who shall report to work as directed by their supervisors.

Mobile County Commission President Merceria Ludgood announced that Mobile County offices will be closed Wednesday, January 29, because of continuing deterioration of weather conditions locally.

Due to possible winter weather effects and/or travel restrictions, the Alabama Southern Bankruptcy Courthouse will be closed Wednesday, January 29, 2014 and will remain closed Thursday, January 30. The Wednesday, January 29, 2014 docket is rescheduled to February 5, 2014 for both judges.

Mobile County Public Schools All schools and offices will be closed Thursday and athletic practices and games have been called off. This includes 12 month employees. Alabama is still under a state of emergency called by the Governor. Information about Friday will be sent to you tomorrow as soon as decisions are made.

Satsuma City Schools will remain closed on Thursday, January 30,  due to the severe winter weather predicted by the National Weather Service.

All Saraland City Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29. ALL school activities (before, during, and after) have also been cancelled. Make-up days will be announced at a later time.

St. Luke’s Episcopal School will remain closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 30. due to the expected inclement weather.

St. Paul’s Episcopal School is closed Thursday.

Due to the forecasted winter storm warning from various media outlets and the National Weather Service, St. Paul’s Episcopal School will be closed on Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29. In the interest of safety for our St. Paul’s families, all extra-curricular activities will be cancelled for these dates as well.

UMS-Wright Prepatory School will be closed Thursday.

University of Mobile schedule for Thursday, Jan. 30. Day classes are canceled. Evening classes will continue as regularly scheduled. Administrative offices will open at noon. Employees are to report to work in time to have administrative offices ready to open at noon.

Gwyn Byrd, for the Mobile and Baldwin County Catholic Schools, said all schools in both counties will remain closed Thursday, January 30.

Moffett Road Baptist Child Development Center will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 28 and 29.

Satsuma Christian School and Daycare will remain closed Thursday, January 30.

Trinity Lutheran School & Day Care will remain closed on Thursday, January 30.

All classes at Sylvan Learning Center are canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Mobile and Gautier location.

Kimz Kidz Childcare will be closed on Thursday and will reopen on Friday at 6am.

Lighthouse Baptist Academy in Theodore will be closed Thursday, January 30.

Due to severe winter weather that will involve freezing temperatures, ice and snow, Bellingrath Gardens and Home will be closed on Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29. They will re-open on Thursday, January 30 at 8:00 AM. They have also cancelled Birding on the Gulf Coast, the Winter Wednesday program scheduled for Wednesday, January 29.

Kidzcrossing, MDO and Extended Care at Christ UMC will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 28 and Wednesday, Jan. 29 during to the potential Winter weather. Fall registration has be rescheduled for Wed., Feb 5 at 8am in the Hospitality room.

Mount Hebron Christian School will be closed Thursday, January, 30.

Providence Academy will be closed Thursday.

Word of Life Institute, a private K-12 Christian School, located at 351 South Craft Highway, Chickasaw, Alabama, and Word of Life Learning Institute Daycare, located at 1682 South Atmore Avenue, Whistler, AL, will be closed Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29, 2014 due to severe weather warnings.

Cottage Hill Christian Academy (both campuses) will remain closed Thursday, January 30.

Covenant Christian School will remain closed Thursday, January 30.

Faith Academy will remain closed Thursday, January 30.

Bishop State Community College will remain closed Thursday, January 30, due to the potential frigid weather approaching the area.

The Mobile Campus of the Alabama Aviation Center has cancelled day and evening classes for Tuesday, Jan. 28, and day classes only for Wednesday, Jan. 29.

Mobile Christian Academy will be closed Thursday, January 30.

After consulting with the Law Enforcement Command Center, St. Paul’s Episcopal School will be closed on Thursday, January 30th.

LaPetite Academy will remain closed Thursday.

Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) will reopen offices to the public at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 30. Field and essential personnel should check with their supervisors regarding their reporting times. All other personnel should report in time to reopen at 1 p.m.

Customers who have emergency needs can contact the MAWSS 24-hour Customer Care line at 694-3165.

Due to adverse weather conditions the Mobile County Health Department and all Health Department clinics will be closed Tuesday, January 28, 2014 through Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

Mobile County Commission will close Mobile Government Plaza and all other county buildings on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. The Commission President will decide by 12 noon if necessary each subsequent day whether to re-open.

Based upon continued freezing temperatures and impassable streets in the City of Mobile, Wave Transit Offices will be CLOSED and will not operate regular bus service on Thursday, January 30th. Wave Transit Management anticipates operating regular bus service and normal office hours on Friday, January 31st.

Virginia College in Mobile will remain closed Thursday, January 30.

Calvary Christian School will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

All University of South Alabama offices will reopen at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 30th.  Staff should report at that time. USA students will resume classes at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, January 30th.  All classes beginning at 4:30 p.m. or later will be held as usual. All Health Sciences Division students should follow the directives of the general University except those in clinical settings, who should follow the directives of their assigned clinical supervisors. All clinics associated with the USA Physicians Group and the Mitchell Cancer Institute will open at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 30th.  Elective procedures scheduled for Thursday, January 30th at both USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital and USA Medical Center have been canceled and are being rescheduled.  Elective procedures scheduled for Friday, January 31st will proceed as usual.  Hospital employees should contact their supervisors for further information.

Spring Hill College will be closed Tuesday, January 28.

Offices of the Mobile Housing Board will be closed Tuesday, January 28, 2014, due to inclement weather.  Employees should monitor local TV news for announcements regarding the agency’s work schedule for Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

All Mobile Public Library locations will remain closed Thursday, January 30.

Chickasaw City School System will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Emmanuelle Junior Academy on Dr. Martian Luther King Drive will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday because of the weather.

The Trinity Kids Learning Center daycare on Pinehill drive will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Kids Stuff Preschool on Hillcrest Road will be closed Thursday, Jan 30.

Alabama State House District 104 is cancelled for Tuesday, Jan 28. It is rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb 4.

Stork’s Nezt Daycare closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Internal Revenue Service office at 1110 Montlimar Drive in Mobile, Ala., will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 28, due to winter weather conditions. The office will tentatively reopen Wednesday at 8:30 a.m., assuming that weather and road conditions permit. Taxpayers who need IRS assistance may contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or may visit www.irs.gov.

ITT Technical Institute in Mobile and Pensacola will reopen on Thursday, January 30.

AACFCU branches in Mobile, AL will close today at noon. Branches in all other locations will close at 1 p.m. AACFCU will remain closed all day Wednesday, 1/29/14.

The Goodwill Easter Seals Annual Meeting has been rescheduled due to weather. It will now take place on February 5th and begin promptly at 11:30am at the Country Club of Mobile.

Due to the winter storm forecasted to affect the Gulf Coast area, IBERIABANK branch locations throughout the South Alabama region are open on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 with early closure planned for 12:00 noon. IBERIABANK branch locations in Mobile, Fairhope and Montgomery, Alabama are all open with planned early closure at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday. Branch hours for Wednesday, January 29, 2014, will be determined at a later time.

AltaPointe Health Systems’ Administrative and Outpatient Offices will re-open at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30. Patients who receive daily medication at AltaPointe’s 4211 Government Street location in Mobile may receive their medication Thursday between Noon and 3 p.m.

Boys and Girls Club of Mobile closed through Thursday.

Advanced Disposal is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday and will resume trash, garbage, recycling  and disposal service on Thursday.

Hancock Bank branches in Mobile and Baldwin counties, Alabama, and in the Pensacola and Emerald Coast regions of Florida will remain open Tuesday until 1:00 p.m. Hancock Bank officials continue to monitor winter weather advisories across the Gulf South to make informed decisions about business hours today and tomorrow at Hancock’s Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida branches.

El Bethel PBC’s Day and Night Care center will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Jubilee Early Child Development Centers in Mobile and Spanish Fort will be closed Wednesday, January 29.

The Mobile Housing Board will be closed on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, due to inclement weather.

The Social Security Administration Office in Mobile, will be closed Thursday and will reopen Friday.

Kindercare Learning Center will be closed Wednesday, January 29.

KED Plasma Centers, both locations in Mobile, will be closed Wednesday, January 29.

Remington College’s morning classes for Wednesday, January 29 are canceled.

Bel Air Mall will remain closed Wed. Jan 29.

The Urology and Oncology Specialists at Springhill Medical Center will be closed Wednesday, January 29.

There will be no funerals or visitations at any Radney locations in Mobile and Saraland, or at Mobile Memorial Gardens. Please contact the funeral home for more information.

McConnell Automotive on Dauphin street will remain closed for Wednesday, January 29.

Mt. Calvary Child Development in Prichard will be closed on Thursday, January, 30.

The Arnold School will remain closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 30.

The Sears Call Center on Demetropolis Rd will remained closed Wednesday with the plan to reopen at noon Thursday.

The Alabama Aviation Center will remain closed until 3pm on Thursday, at which time, evening classes will resume.

Harmony Baptist Church will not be having service Wednesday night due to unsafe driving conditions. Service will resume on Sunday.

Vanity Fair Distribution center #1 will not be open Thursday. Work will resume on Friday

Mobile ARC,  often known as MARC will be closed on Thursday.

El Bethel PBC’s Day and Night Care Center will also be closed on Thursday.

Mobile County Health Department will be closed Thursday, January 30, 2014 due to continuing winter storm weather conditions. ALL employees are to report to work at their regularly scheduled time on Friday, January 31, 2014.

Please be advised that the Alabama Minority GOP Annual Banquet/Meeting has to be rescheduled due to the winter storm, the state of emergency that Alabama is under and the fact that our keynote speaker,  Senator Guillory is out of the country and unable to get back in due to the storm.

Mostellar Medical Center Employees should report to work at 10 a.m Thursday.

Due to the continued effects of Winter Storm Leon the District 6 meeting scheduled Thursday January 30, 6:30pm at the Connie Hudson  Mobile Regional Community Senior Center is canceled. Meeting will be rescheduled to a later date in the future.

The National Weather Service indicates conditions will improve Thursday, January 30th for South Alabama and coastal areas located along the Northern U.S. Gulf of Mexico.   The Alabama State Port Authority’s public seaport and rail terminals are scheduled to reopen at 12:00 pm, CST, Thursday, January 30th.

The Mobile Regional Airport plans to re-open at 8:00 am on Thursday weather and safety conditions permitting. Please continue to check with your respective airline’s website or 1-800 number for flight updates.

Safe Haven Academy and Daycare will be closed Thursday.

Emanuel Junior Academy will be closed Thursday.

BALDWIN COUNTY

Superintendent Dr. Alan T. Lee has issued the following statement: Baldwin County Public Schools will remain closed Thursday, January 30. A decision about a makeup day will be made at a later time. Dr. Lee plans to appeal to the Alabama State Department of Education so the days do not have to be made up.

Bayside Academy will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in anticipation of inclement weather. No school activities will take place on Tuesday, and campus will be closed to all students and staff. Bayside Academy will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The campus remains closed to students and faculty/staff.

Tanger Outlet is closed Tuesday. They will make a decision about Wednesday on Tuesday.

All Baldwin County Mental Health Center offices will be closed Wednesday, 1-29-2014.

The Eastern Shore Centre will be closed Wednesday, January 29.

The Daphne and Foley Bryant Bank branches will tentatively reopen Wednesday, January 29 at 12pm.

Gulf Shores United Methodist Church Bread Ministry will be closed Thursday due to the weather.

CLARKE COUNTY

All Clarke County schools (Clarke County Schools, Thomasville City Schools, Clarke Prep School and Jackson Academy) will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, January 28 and 29., per Superintendent Mary Bagley.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

All Washington County public schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, January 28 and 29, per Superintendent Tim Savage. Thursday, January 30 is pending.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, ALABAMA

All Escambia County, Ala. schools will remain closed on thursday, January 30.

Temple Christian Academy in Atmore will remain closed through Thursday.  Classes should resume Friday morning.

Escambia Academy located in Atmore, Ala. will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and Wednesday, Jan. 29 due to the approaching winter storm.

Wednesday evening services at Atmore Baptist Temple in Atmore have been canceled for tonight.

Monroe County

All Schools will be closed on Thursday (Public, Monroe Academy, & Alabama Southern Community College

Primary Care Center (Dr. Powell & Dr. Broughton) Closed Thursday

Monroeville City Offices re-open at 1.p.m on Thursday

Conecuh County

Conecuh County Schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday January 28-29, 2014 due to weather conditions. If roads are open, all 12 month personnel are to report to work Wednesday, at regular time.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has made the decision to close the Escambia County School District on Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29. All extra-curricular activities scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled. Extra-curricular activities may resume Wednesday afternoon. Employees and parents are encouraged to remain home and stay off the road. For recorded up-to-date information, please call 850-469-5306.

Pensacola Christian Academy will remain closed Thursday, January 30.

Due to continued inclement weather, all Pensacola State College campuses and centers will be closed Thursday, Jan. 30.  Pensacola State will resume normal operational hours on Friday, Jan. 31.

The Pensacola ITT Technical Institute campus will be closed Tuesday, January 28 due to weather.

All Department of Children and Families offices in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties will be closed Tuesday, January 28 – Wednesday, January 29, due to unsafe weather conditions. Offices are expected to reopen on Thursday, January 30.

Due to weather conditions, all University of West Florida campuses will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and Wednesday, Jan. 29. This includes all classes, events, campus activities and online courses. Normal University operations, classes, events, campus activities will resume Thursday, Jan. 30, unless conditions change, in which case, University officials will notify all students, faculty and staff.

Naval Air Station Pensacola, Saufley Field and Corry Station will resume normal operations on Thursday, January 30th at 12 p.m.; this will be the earliest gate access will be granted. Personnel are encouraged to work with their individual commands and supervisors to establish reporting times if county transit routes are not clear.  The NAS Pensacola main gate will remain closed until further notice due to icing. The west gate on Blue Angel Parkway is open 24 hours.

Due to the approaching winter storm, the Greater Pensacola Chamber, the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce, Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce and Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce have postponed tomorrow’s Legislative Luncheon to Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at New World Landing, 600 S. Palafox. St.

Andrews Institute
Closed today, reopening noon on Thursday.

Baptist Hospital
Outpatient Heart Center closing at 2 p.m. today, reopening noon on Thursday.
Women’s imaging closed today, reopening noon on Thursday.
All outpatient services reopening at noon on Thursday.

Baptist Medical Park-Navarre: Facility is closed today, reopening noon on Thursday.

Baptist Medical Park-Nine Mile: Urgent Care is closed today, reopening noon on Thursday. Women’s Center, imaging, rehab, cardiology, and lab closing at 2 p.m. today. All services reopening noon on Thursday.

Gulf Breeze Hospital: Outpatient services are open today. For Thursday all elective procedures and appointments for outpatient care are being reschedule for noon and later in the day.

Inpatient care is fully operational at all Baptist Health Care hospitals (Baptist, Gulf Breeze, Atmore Community and Jay hospitals). Emergency departments are open at all four facilities.

OKALOOSA COUNTY

The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (FDOH-Okaloosa) will remain open on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and Wednesday, Jan. 29. Client services at the Fort Walton Beach and Crestview locations will maintain regular operating hours. Clients who need to reschedule or cancel appointments, should call (850) 833-9240.

The Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Offices in Crestview and Fort Walton Beach will remain closed on Thursday, January 30th due to weather related safety concerns. Offices will reopen at 8am on Friday, January 31st. For more information please email Paul Lux at plux@co.okaloosa.fl.us

Due to the continuing hazardous driving conditions for this area, Okaloosa County Tax Collector Ben Anderson announces that all Okaloosa County Tax Collector Branch offices will remain closed on Thursday, January 30, 2014.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY

Gulf Islands National Seashore will close the visitor centers in Florida and Mississippi due to the approaching winter weather effective Tuesday, January 28 through Wednesday, January 29. The park and campgrounds remain open for public use.

GEORGE COUNTY

The George County School District will remain closed on Thursday, Jan. 30 as a safety precaution. Schools will reopen as soon as weather conditions allow. Visit www.gcsd.us for all official school announcements.

Due to the hazardous roadways and icy bridge conditions, the George County Board of Supervisors, George County Sheriff Dean Howell, and the City of Lucedale will issue a curfew again at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 29) and ending at 7 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014.  All citizens are encouraged to abide by the curfew that is being issued for their safety.

All County offices will reopen at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30; please have lunch before shift begins. County employees with pressing deadlines and/or essential business need to contact their department manager to discuss schedules. Emergency personnel and staff will remain overnight. Other noteworthy openings & closures:

City of Lucedale offices will reopen at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

GC Dept. of Humans Services will reopen at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

GC Senior Citizens Building closed on Thursday.

HANCOCK COUNTY

Saint Stanislaus will be closed on Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, Janaury 29 due to hazardous weather conditions.

HARRISON COUNTY

Officials have announced that due to hazardous road conditions, the Department of Veterans Affairs Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System has extended the closure of all outpatient clinics to include Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola, Eglin Air Force Base and Panama City until noon on Thursday, January 30, 2014.

The Biloxi VA emergency room will be open. Officials said all VA employees should report back to work by noon Thursday.

JACKSON COUNTY

Because of the approaching winter weather, Ingalls Shipbuilding facilities in Pascagoula and Gulfport will close at 11:00 a.m. today Tuesday Jan. 28 to all employees except for essential personnel as notified by their supervision. Second and third shifts for both shipyards are also cancelled for Tuesday, Jan 28. Currently, the facilities are scheduled to be operating under normal conditions on Wednesday. However, employees are encouraged to check the company’s emergency information phone line for any work schedule changes and updates. Employees should call 1-877-871-2058 (Press 2 for Ingalls).

As of 1520 hours (3:20pm) on 28 January 2014 the Ocean Springs Police Department has closed the Ft. Bayou Bridge due to inclement weather (icing on the bridge) until further notice. The Biloxi Bay Bridge is currently open for now.
