Mobile police investigators are looking into what they call a justifiable homicide Saturday night.  In a press release this afternoon, police say they were called out to a burglary in progress at the 300 block of Greenpark Drive shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday.
“Upon arrival, officers found one person shot inside the residence,” said Ashley Rains of the Public Information Office with the Mobile Police Department. “The 42 year-old male subject was transported to USA Medical Center where he died from multiple gunshot wounds.”Police investigators said the homeowner heard someone trying to break in his home by kicking the door and yelling at him.  According to police, the homeowner armed himself with a gun and told the alleged intruder to leave.  Lawmen say the suspect kicked the door in and entered the home.  “At that time,” said Rains, “the homeowner shot the subject several times”.

Rains said this case is being investigated as a justifiable homicide and charges are not expected against the homeowner.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Mobile Police at (251) 208-7211.The identity of the deceased will be released pending family notification.
