FOX10 News is finding out more about a church burglary that happened Tuesday, January 21 and learning another Mobile church has also been hit this week.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office responded to Pathway Church of God in Semmes after a report of it being burglarized. Deputies say the Children’s Ministry Building was broken into with the thieves stealing flat screen TV’s, smart boards, sound mixer boards, iPads and more.
“It occurred sometime late Monday night/early Tuesday morning. One of our employees arrived here about 6:30 they saw that the garage door back on one of our storage sheds was kicked it and the entry door also kicked and looking further we found a number of items taken,” said New Song Pastor Jim Kinder.
They weren’t items you can just throw into a car.
“It was a big zero-turn lawn mower that we used to take care of our facilities here, also a generator, actually two generators, and a large compressor,” Kinder said.
Christ United wasn’t the only church that was hit in Mobile County this week. While thieves got in the outside shed there, at Pathway Church of God in Semmes, they broke into the Children’s Ministry building.
“Honestly, what really goes through my mind is who could do this? You didn’t wrong me or just the kids, this was God’s stuff. God’s things. I’m praying for you,” said Freddy Todd with Pathway.
The suspects got away with video games, flat screen TV’s, soundboards, computers, and more. Those at Christ United Methodist said it is just stuff, but there’s something that concerns them even more.
“It just saddens us that someone would come and take it. We love to help people the best that we can and if people had needs we wish they would come to us and as a church we’d do what we can,” said Kinder.
The investigations into both incidents are ongoing, it’s not known if the two are related.
