Mobile Police and Mobile County Public School System officials confirm a loaded .40 caliber handgun was found on a student at B.C. Rain High school Thursday, January 17.
Authorities say a resource officer learned that the student was armed and acted to remove the weapon.
Police say they were called to the school to recover the handgun and arrest the student, who officials say is in the 10th grade.
The student was charged and taken to Strickland Youth Center and will be suspended from school.
School officials say parents were not notified because the situation had been handled and it was also up to the discretion of the school’s principal.

Police say they are still investigating.
