The best of the best in prep football were named by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. The title of Mr. Football went to Roc Thomas – a running back from Oxford, committed to Auburn next season.

Mobile had a few players represent the area, as well. It should come to no surprise that the 2A Back of the Year award went to Mobile Christian’s Tyler Rogers.

This season, Rogers rushed for more than 2,300 yards for the Leopards and scored 38 touchdowns. Rogers helped lead Mobile Christian to the 2A state quarterfinals.

Also representing the area today was Auburn-commit, Tre Williams of St. Paul’s.  Williams is a two-time finalist for 5A Linebacker of the Year, he was named to the Super 12 list, recognizing the top 12 players in the state. Also on that list, is Spanish Fort’s quarterback Tyler Johnston – who helped lead the Toro’s to a 5A State Championship this season.
